Quick Slide Automated Slide Stainer Frequently Asked Questions
What does the unit cost?
The list price is $2,995.00. We are the only manufacturer of a single slide stainer. This unit is the smallest, fastest, and least expensive automated stainer manufactured.
What about the warranty?
A twelve (12) month warranty is standard. If a problem occurs, call our toll free number -- 800/295-9588. If your problem cannot be resolved by phone, a replacement unit will be shipped to you overnight at no charge. Extended Warranties cost $500.00 for each additional year.
What about maintenance?
Daily maintenance is not required, however, GG&B recommends that the tubing and pump windings be changed annually. We have retubing kits ($85.00 each), which include tubing, elbow fittings, pump windings, stainless steel cannulas, one-way check valves, and wire ties for complete front to back replacement. High usage may require that the top half of the cuvette be cleaned once a month using a Q-tip that can be done in a minute or less.
Does the Quick Slide require special slides?
No -- the machine was designed to accept several manufacturers slides. A quality 25mm x 75mm slide or 3in x 1in slide works fine.
What about the stain kit/reagent?
It is a proprietary formulation, developed exclusively for GG&B Company. This guarantees a consistent and quality stain. The Quick Slide uses a modified Wright Giemsa stain that requires no prefixing for blood smears.
What is the cost of the stain pack?
There are 125 tests per stain pack and each pack retails for $55.00.
What are the benefits of Quick Slide staining over hand-dipping?
- The Quick Slide is not "technique dependent". You get consistency no matter who stains the slide.
- There is no cross-contamination as with the dip method. The Quick Slide uses fresh reagent for each and every slide. The dip method requires frequent replenishing of reagent, and this is messy and time consuming.
- The Quick Slide has independently adjustable stain and buffer times, which allows the user to adjust the stain intensity. With the dip method, what you see is what you get.
- The Quick Slide allows the user to do other tasks while the slide is staining.
- The Quick Slide staining takes less time, and there is no waste of fluids.
- Cash flow is enhanced because of the increased volume of testing due to speed, quality, reliability (anyone can use the Quick Slide, not just technicians), and multi-tasking capabilities of user.
